|Republic of Congo covers around 342,000 km² (about 133,600 mi²). The most recent census estimates a population of about 3.7 million inhabitants.|
Almost two thirds of the country is covered by forest, much of the rest being humid savanna. Republic of Congo is home to three national parks, a variety of reserves and numerous forestry concessions. All this natural beauty should not know wildlife crime, but poachers and traffickers all too accustomed to impunity remain frighteningly numerous.
